Safety

At NHV we strive to deliver high quality services to our customers. While delivering our services it is our policy to take all necessary precautions to prevent accidents and incidents, to eliminate injury or ill-health to our people and our partners and to avoid harm to the environment.

We believe that all injuries are preventable; we strive for safety perfection which means we are committed to attaining zero incidents. We work to manage all our business processes, from back office to helicopter operations, to make this so. This integrated approach to safety is reflected in all decisions made in the company, under the motto: if you can’t do it safe, don’t do it.

In order to sustain a safety culture we make sure that every employee is aware of its importance from day one and throughout their entire career at NHV. Employee’s get regular safety trainings and are assessed on their safety behavior during their periodical evaluations. Aside from their own safety behavior we also strongly encourage employees to report every safety matter they come across, as small as it may be. Our simple and anonymous reporting system results in reliable information from our employees’ first-hand experience which is used to optimize our safety measures accordingly.

Safety by training

The mandatory employee safety training program includes general safe work practices as well as specific instruction on control of hazards unique to each employee's job assignment. This can involve classroom instructions to a group of employees or on-the-job training, in which a single or small number of employees receive personalized instruction from their supervisor.

Fleet

The importance of safety is also reflected in our strategy of maintaining a young fleet of helicopters with the latest safety technologies. With an average offshore aircraft age of 7.5 years, NHV’s fleet is very young compared to the industry average. Our latest acquisition of 16 H175 new-generation helicopters has proven to be an excellent example of investing in safety. For this type of aircraft, NHV Group was the global launching customer.
