Welcome to the NHV Employee Spotlight Feature!

Name: Gitte Eriksen

Job title:  Base Manager in Esbjerg, Denmark

Some Fun Facts about you:

1. When I was younger, my dream was to have my own sports shop, as I played ice hockey at that time.

2. I played ice hockey for 15 years, of which the last 3 years for the national team. My work life ended up in aviation nonetheless – and I am still happy for that to this day!.

Can you tell us a little bit about your background and who you are?

I live in Denmark, and I have been working in aviation for 22 years. The first 6 years I worked for an airline company called Danish Air Transport, after which I joined the helicopter company CHC, and the last 12 years my heart is at NHV A/S.

What led you to pursue a career in Aviation?

My sister was working at an airline company, and they were looking for a new employee in the Route Department. I have always been interested in traveling around the world, so I started at the airline company and had the possibility to travel worldwide and start up different destinations.

What do you find exciting about the industry and what is something specific about your role at NHV that you love doing?

What I find exciting is that every day is different from the last and that you never get bored. Every day is a new adventure with new challenges. I am privileged in my role, havingthe opportunity to work together with people from several departments, maintaining a close relationship with our customers, and collaborate with our business partners.

Can you tell us a bit about a favourite project or experience that you’ve had at NHV?

Some of my favourite projects have been starting up new contracts for clients INEOS and Total. It is always exciting when we get to roll out a new setup, helicopter type, type rating, scheduling etc.

How do you define success?

If you can say that you have done your best, and you have encouraged the entire team to get the job done and as a result you end the day with all flight departures completed, that´s success.

What are some of the things that you like to do, outside of work?

I like spending time with my family and friends and go on vacation to different places in the world.

What are some words of advice you would give to others who are considering pursuing a career in Aviation?

Try it! It is an incredibly exciting and challenging industry. Operating in aviation is like operating with one big family. Once you get to work in aviation, you won´t let it go again!
