Employee Spotlight: Kirstyn Maclurg

Welcome to this edition of the NHV Employee Spotlight Feature, with the goal of shining a spotlight on the pivotal role our employees play at NHV, including; their journeys so far, and how NHV aims to create an innovative, inclusive and dynamic workforce.

Hello to Kirstyn Maclurg, HR Administrator based in Aberdeen.

3 Fun Facts about you:

1. Born in the back of a Land Rover during a blizzard

2. Will give you a terrible hand poked tattoo if you ask

3. Gone through 3 cars in the past 2 years

Can you tell us a little bit about your background and who you are?

I was born and raised out in the countryside of Aberdeenshire, Scotland. I lived in Glasgow for 4 years while I studied for my psychology degree, unfortunately I still can’t read minds. I’ve had a variety of jobs in the past (including Lollipop Lady), but this is my first job in HR and I’m loving it! In my spare time I enjoy creating art and looking after my many, many plants.

What led you to pursue a career in Aviation?

I came across the HR Administrator role and though it’d be a great opportunity to work with such a young and exciting company. I’d heard before how fast paced and unpredictable aviation can be and liked the sound of it, now that I’m here I have to say I completely agree!

What do you find exciting about the industry and what is something specific about your role at NHV that you love doing?

I love how every day is different from the last in the industry, there’s absolutely no possibility of getting bored! In my role I meet people from every single department across the company, I find it very interesting to meet such a wide variety of people on a daily basis.

Can you tell us a bit about a favourite project or experience that you’ve had at NHV?

The people here have created the best experience for me. Everyone is so friendly and supportive of each other which it makes it a wonderful place to work.

How do you define success?

I think if you can say wholeheartedly that you’ve done your best and are proud of your work, that’s success.

What are some of the things that you like to do, outside of work?

I like playing video games, painting, crocheting, archery. I also really enjoy bowling but sadly I’m not great at it.

What are some words of advice you would give to others who are considering pursuing a career in Aviation?

Just go for it. Why not?
