Sustainability

Sustainability is a core pillar of our strategic vision

S USTAINABILITY 2

At NHV, we believe that sustainability is not only vital for the planet but also brings meaningful value to our people and our business. Our commitment is more than just words—it's demonstrated through tangible actions.

Last year, we carried out our first double materiality assessment to pinpoint the sustainability topics that truly matter to us. A key part of this process was engaging with our stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, shareholders, and employees. Their input helped us refine our analysis and validate our material priorities.

Our identified sustainability topics are organised under three core pillars: People, Planet, and Governance.

Hands Locked People

PEOPLE

The PEOPLE pillar is centred on the safety, health, and overall well-being of both our employees and our customers. We recognise that a strong safety culture is the foundation of everything we do, which is why safety stands as our number one core value. From rigorous training programs and continuous performance monitoring to open communication and mental health support, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for everyone who works with and relies on NHV.

Our goal is to ensure that every individual returns home safely at the end of each day, physically and mentally well.

The following topics have been identified as material:

Health & Safety

Healthy and safe work conditions are recognised as a human right. Occupational health and safety involves the prevention of physical and mental harm to workers and the promotion of workers’ health. This topic covers impacts related to workers’ health and safety.

Accident & Safety Management

Air transport accidents can have significant consequences. Passenger safety is paramount in the helicopter transport industry.

Although air travel is one of the safest transport modes, we are held to very high safety standards, and consumers expect accident-free operations. Accidents may result in significant environmental and social externalities and require entities to pay for remediation and victim compensation.

Safety incidents or violations of safety regulations may affect an entity’s reputation, increasing its risk and cost of capital, resulting in reduced consumer demand and revenues. Even if they occur rarely, larger accidents may result in significant, long-term effects on brand value and revenue growth.

The importance of safety is reflected in our strategy of maintaining a young and next-generation fleet equipped with the latest safety technologies. With an average offshore aircraft age of 8.4 years, our fleet is significantly younger than the industry average.

Employee Attraction & Retention

Attracting and retaining talent is crucial to maintain a high level of productivity and safety. Yet, increasing talent competition continues to challenge recruitment and retention efforts.

Sustainability

PLANET

The PLANET pillar is dedicated to protecting and preserving the environment for current and future generations. At NHV, we recognise our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact and actively contribute to a more sustainable future. This includes minimising our carbon footprint, improving fuel efficiency, investing in greener technologies, and exploring innovative ways to reduce emissions across our operations.

We are committed to continuous improvement in environmental performance and aligning our efforts with global climate goals. Through responsible resource management and sustainable practices, we aim to make a positive difference for the planet.

Our double materiality assessment identified the following topics as material:

Climate change and GHG emissions

Greenhouse gas (GHG)
emissions comprise air emissions that contribute to climate change. Our main sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are aircraft fuel use and emissions from ground equipment and facility electricity, and heating.

Aircraft fuel consumption is the largest contributor to total emissions, and fuel management is a critical part of reducing emissions.

Management of fuel-related environmental impacts includes increasing fuel efficiency through fleet upgrades, retrofits, and flight speed and route design optimisation, as well as using alternative and sustainable fuels.

Energy consumption and efficiency

An organisation can consume energy in various forms, such as fuel, electricity, heating, cooling or steam. Energy can be self-generated or purchased from external sources.

Using energy more efficiently, as well as the use of renewable energy, is essential for combating climate change and for lowering an organisation’s overall environmental footprint.

Energy consumption can also occur throughout the upstream and downstream activities connected with an organisation’s operations.

Noise management
Helicopters generate a significant amount of noise. Local communities are impacted, especially during the take-off and landing phases. Furthermore, ground testing after maintenance may create a nuisance for residents.

Our latest-generation helicopters are significantly quieter than older models. All flight operations are conducted in compliance with established noise abatement procedures for both approach and departure, to help reduce noise-related disruptions.

We take a structured approach to environmental management through our Environmental Management System, which received ISO 14001:2015 certification in 2024 for our bases in Oostende (Belgium) and Rotterdam (Netherlands).

Governance

GOVERNANCE

GOVERNANCE at NHV is built on strong foundations: ethical business conduct, sound management, financial responsibility, transparency, and strict regulatory compliance.

It’s about running our business in a way that supports long-term economic sustainability while being mindful of our environmental, social, and cultural impact. For us, governance means achieving healthy growth and profitability while doing what’s right for our people and the planet.

Following topics have been identified as material:

Business ethics

Business ethics addresses the company’s approach to managing risks and opportunities surrounding ethical conduct of business, including fraud, corruption, bribery and facilitation payments, and other behaviour that may have an ethical component. This includes sensitivity to business norms and standards as they shift over time, jurisdiction, and culture. It addresses the company’s ability to provide services that satisfy the highest professional and ethical standards of the industry, which means avoiding conflicts of interest, misrepresentation, bias, and negligence through training employees adequately and implementing policies and procedures to ensure employees provide services free from bias and error.

Financial performance & resilience

Generating steady, predictable financial returns for our shareholders affords us access to capital needed to invest in our business; to provide a safe, reliable and quality service; and to compensate our employees. Our ability to deliver strong, long-term financial performance depends on, among other things, our industry business model resilience as well as our ability to innovate to better serve our customers.

Corporate Governance - Board of Directors

Corporate governance includes policies, processes, and practices that direct, control, and order corporate behaviour. Strong corporate governance helps ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability and is critical to create and maintain investors' trust and confidence in the company and our ability to achieve strategic objectives, manage risks, and create long-term value for shareholders.

Customer satisfaction

Meeting customers' expectations is a key element in our mission, which is to provide them with safe and sustainable aviation services whilst creating value for shareholders and employees.

Meeting customer expectations will positively impact the customer as well as their employees, and result in higher contract customer retention.

Our quality management system is certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.

SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING

Transparent reporting of our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance is vital to building trust with our stakeholders, enabling informed decisions, and demonstrating our dedication to responsible business practices.

By consistently monitoring and disclosing our sustainability metrics, we gain valuable insights that help us manage risks, improve operational efficiency, and identify new growth opportunities. This proactive approach enhances our resilience, strengthens our reputation, and ensures we are well-positioned to meet the evolving expectations of shareholders, customers, employees, and regulators.

We are proud to present our first sustainability report—an important milestone that highlights our vision, showcases our progress, and marks the beginning of our journey with Sustainability at NHV.

SUSTAINABILITY AWARD

In October 2025, our Belgian entity, NHV NV, was awarded a Bronze Medal in our very first EcoVadis assessment, recognizing our commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.

This achievement places us among the top 35% of companies assessed by EcoVadis, reflecting our dedication across key areas including environmental impact, labour & human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

Receiving this recognition in our first assessment is an encouraging start and we’re excited to continue strengthening our sustainability performance in the years ahead.

A huge thank you to our teams and partners who make progress like this possible. Together, we’re building a more sustainable future.
