NHV Training Academy FAQ's

What courses does NHV Academy offer?
NHV Academy is offering type rating training on the following types:

Eurocopter MBB-BK117 D2/D3 – Category B1.3, B2 & C + variants
Eurocopter AS365N3 – Category B1.3 & B2
Eurocopter EC175 – Category B1.3 & B2 + variants
Agusta AB139/AW139 – Category B1.3 & B2


Do your courses include Engine training?
Yes, all our full type rating courses include Engine training.

Eurocopter MBB-BK117 D2/D3 – Arriel 2E
Eurocopter AS365N3 – Arriel 2C
Eurocopter EC175 – PWC PT6C
Agusta AB139/AW139 – PWC PT6


Are all courses UKCAA & EASA approved?

We aim to have all courses UK & EASA approved but have some exceptions.

Both EASA & UK approved:

Eurocopter MBB-BK117 D2/D3 – Arriel 2E
Eurocopter EC175 – PWC PT6C
Agusta AB139/AW139 – PWC PT6

Only EASA approved:

Eurocopter AS365N3 – Arriel 2C


How do I register for one of the listed courses?

If you are interested in attending one of listed courses, please send your training request to NHVacademy@nhv.be and specify the need of training, amount of students and preferred period. When we receive your request, a training offer will be sent, together with all detailed information on the course type.

If the offer is approved, a registration form will be forwarded to confirm the subscription.


How do I receive the training material?

Our training course material is made available on our training platform, Moodle. All digital copies are also sent to students on a USB stick.

Print outs of the training material can be purchased at an additional cost.

 

How are the courses organised?

Our courses are almost always organised in a blended learning environment.

Theoretical courses are provided through online synchronous learning. The instructor instructs the training from a distance through Microsoft Teams.

Aircraft visits, theoretical revisions, examinations and practical training is provided in 1 of our approved training locations.

 

Where are your approved training locations?

NHV Academy has 3 approved training locations:

NHV Ostend, Kalkaertstraat 101, 8400 Oostende, Belgium - Approved types: MBB-BK117D2/D3, EC175, AW139 & AS365N3

NHV Aberdeen, Kirkton Drive 2, Aberdeen AB21 0BG, UK - Approved types: EC175, AW139

NHV Norwich, SaxonAir – Business Aviation Centre, NR6 6JT Norwich, UK - Approved types: EC175, AW139

 

What are the prerequisites to attend this course?

Our students should have an understandable level in the English language. Preferably, they a holder of a basic aviation license (EASA, UK CAA or equivalent). A minimum one year working experience on a helicopter aircraft would be recommended.

 

Do you have company rates for accommodation near the approved training centres?

We do have company rates in hotels, located near our approved training centres. We distribute the accommodation and information brochures on the location where you have booked training, together with the registration forms.

Students attending a course at NHV Academy can also profit from our company rates.

 

Do we need to bring our own PPE for practical courses?

Yes, all students that will attend practical training should bring their Personal Protective Equipment such as safety shoes, working clothes …

 

What is the cancellation policy?

Due to certain circumstances, it is possible that you need to cancel your training.

This is possible but please keep in mind the following cancellation fees:

Cancellation with more than 25 days’ notice - No cancellation fee

Cancellation between 25 to 10 days’ notice - 30% of the fee

Cancellation with less than 10 days’ notice - 100% of the fee


What are the payment conditions?

It is required to make a down payment of 30% of the Fee no later than 25 days prior to the start of the training.

It is required to pay the 100% of the Fee no later than 10 days prior to the start. If a Training is scheduled within less than 10 days, then payment in full is immediately due.

 

Can a course be cancelled by the NHV Academy?

Yes, the course can be cancelled by the NHV Academy if the minimum amount of students is not reached. Type rating courses can only be opened with a minimum of 4 students.

 

Do I always receive PART147 certificates after completion of a course?

We provide a certificate of recognition for all our PART-147 approved courses when the students have a pass mark of minimum 75%.

If the pass mark was not reached (after 3 attempts), a certificate of attendance is granted.

Some courses are not PART-147 approved and will also give a certificate of attendance.

 

What about lunch possibilities during the training?

NHV is offering lunch on exam days.

On other training days, lunch can be bought in shops near the training locations. More information can also be found in the information brochure that you will receive once subscribed for a training.
